CAMPUS FORMULA

Greetings from our camp to you all. Its been a while and we are aware. Such is life; silent moments are a part of the package. Let me take this opportunity to specially welcome you once again to the University of Competitive Choice. Yes this is a university. Bro, you better believe it. Long as it might take you to admit it, the fact remains unchanged. This is not a teacher training institute. We are here and we are in a university. Welcome to UCC, welcome to an atmosphere of constant confusion, welcome to a world of manual processes, welcome to a truckload of quizzes and assignments. So yeah, welcome. Say hi when you see me.

We love you and are always happy to see you come back.  It’s not like you guys are feeding us or doing our assignments for us. You know, it feels good to have people going through the same hustle as we are. And it gets even better when struck with the realization that there are some of you who have not even made a year round of this journey. Don’t be discouraged. We will all finish one day. I will today, and then tomorrow it’s your turn. Let me help you with this; very soon when Madam Charlotte Osei trends on twitter, then you know you’re done. But until then, there is a cause for this write-up.

As you anticipate exploiting the best out of the semester, we wish you well. And a gentle reminder to you - this is second semester.  Lolx, it’s such a nice feeling. Now lets get going.

You want to know the UCC campus formula?

You’re at the right place. Chill and scroll down.

Even before that, take a break, share this link with your friends and do them good. Oh you won’t?

You’re selfish. That should be first on the list.

Avoid being selfish.

Selfishness took no man nowhere. Never be deceived; you don’t know everything. It’s responsible to protect the little you know during quizzes and exams. Bro, don’t make yourself Santa Clause at these times. Or maybe you want to go home before your four year contract is up.  These are the only instances where selfishness is venial.
But outside quizzes and exams, lets create a solid force to combat the assignments and group works. Cover up for that fellow who may not seem committed to the group. Share if not all, portions of your assignments.
Help a bro; support a sis. No man is an Island. Reps should rise up and fight for the good of the masses. Piercing our backs and teaming up with the authorities to see us sink. You want to take first and second positions to yourself???
It never worked for any man. But, is it even needed? Didn’t that battle end in the high schools???

Cry to the right source.

In as much as lecturers and/or T.As have some power to decide your academic fate, they don’t have the final say. I have been fortunate to come across some fellows who put their all in these authorities. Most of them end up giving out precious sacrifices in exchange for tiny grades. No disrespect to anyone but if you cry to a lecturer, you will cry again. If you cry to a T.A, you will cry again. Know that there is a God that answers by fire.
Do your bit - study, do your assignments and quizzes and take the exams. Labour for what you can confidently sue for. Cry to God when they want to toy with your labour; then take a nap.

You are the reason the library exist.

If not the most beautiful and best situated building, the library is surely one of the best in these categories. I’m not always at the library but take this from me – you need the library!
Don’t ignore it.
Don’t always walk by it.
ENTER IT.
Don’t be scared. It’s a friendly pile. Make the library your friend. Have a daily/weekly schedule with it. It has every book you may need including the ones you don’t need. After all, you are in UCC to study. So go on - Read, Read and Read all you can. Make a 1st class degree and make daddy proud.

Make good friends.

Surely not all the people around you will do you any good. There is probably a thing you can learn from each of them, but know that you can’t keep everybody. Make the move and reach out to that lady/guy. Don’t always wait for them to make the move. It might never happen. Why hesitate to approach when he/she can help you with that upper edge. Remember to be nice to everyone as well. Don’t destroy friendships. Keep a wide network.

It’s still early days yet. The semester is still young and toothless. Have a personal plan for your life these few months ahead and discipline yourself to endure whatever goes into it. Undoubtedly, there are LOADS of activities in the womb of the sem.
When all is said and done, we’re sure to harvest the best.
This is all we have for you for now. See you when we meet. #love
