MEN IN BLACK

To the men in black, the ones we trust
To them we vote, to us they screw
Servants they claim to be, I wonder who they serve.
From Axim to Yendi, Amedzofe to Donkorkrom, Bekwai to Ada I see them patrolling.
The time has come, it’s ripe and it’s here! Perhaps the best part of democracy. It’s not as if we’re to judge their works. We wouldn’t be wrong in doing that though.
But it’s a time to maintain or change leaders.
Its been 4 years now. Bro, Sis, draw a graph. How’s your curve? A downward or upward slope? ‘Charle’ keep that to yourself. It’s personal.
2 months to go, or a month less
The state of them, their carefully woven words
As sweet as gum, but doesn’t stick as much.

A trigger of a routine is released. Its election time and they want to be friends. It’s not as if we can reject them. But we know they will.
And so we’re friends now. But we know it wouldn’t last. Oh Yes! We know it and they know it. We never forget them, but they will soon forget us.
They know what they want. They have a plan. They said they want to lead us, and we came to a positive consensus on that. Only to see them rule us.
They rule us as though we were a threat to nature. As slaves and masters, we live in our own land. But we are innocent and feeble, toothless and reserved. Our quest is only for what is rightfully ours. We want no more than that!

Oh men in black. Our hope, our light
Oh men in black, men full of lies
They come in suits just to deceive
We know their type, yet we still believe
So deft with their words, they promise us the world. We listen and we trust, they flatter and deceive
But they don’t care, they don’t even know
We have no hope, so rot and die?
We admit the times we talked bad against you.
We admit when we break our bounds and voice out our discomfort in ‘harsh’ words.
We admit those moments we paint you black to the world. We admit all of those.
But the different people we see in you today and shortly after we soak our thumbs in ink for your sake is what bewilders us.
To the many who weep on the inside for similar cause, we salute you.

For they get drunk with power, so full of pride.
We idolize these ‘heroes’ when to them we are absolute zeros
No way! Lets wake and act
Peacefully to the polls, Lets show some passion, lets vote on grounds
For we live to suffer if these men don’t deliver
Lets vote in some tools and feel at home

We need men, those who can lead
Not men in black

We need leaders who fear God above all else!
